EATI is a two-year fellowship training program in pulmonary and critical care medicine, and it’s the first of its kind in Ethiopia.

EATI is based in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia, at Tikur Anbessa (Black Lion) Hospital, the flagship medical training institution of Addis Ababa University School of Medicine. Since its inception in 2013, EATI has made a tremendous impact in shaping the future of pulmonary and critical care medicine in Ethiopia.

TWENTY-SIX GRADUATES AND COUNTING
Currently, there are twenty-six pulmonary and critical care physicians with an additional five fellows in training. Not only are graduates of EATI providing high-level care and conducting research, but they have also dramatically increased the number of pulmonary and critical care specialists in the country. More importantly, these physicians have now assumed leadership roles in setting up pulmonary inpatient consult services and clinics, bronchoscopy suites, and medical intensive care units at various academic medical centers throughout Ethiopia. They have also established the Ethiopian Thoracic Society. EATI is helping to transform healthcare in Ethiopia.
